Huron Hires Firefighter/Paramedic Andrew Pettay Full-Time
Huron Hires Firefighter and Paramedic, Andrew Pettay Full-Time
The City of Huron is proud to welcome its newest full-time member, Firefighter/Paramedic Andrew Pettay, to the team. Firefighter Pettay brings a strong commitment to public service and a passion for helping others in times of need.
Prior to becoming full-time, Firefighter Pettay served part-time with Huron since February and full-time with Sandusky for 7.5 years. Having this type of on-the-job experience made Firefighter Pettay the logical choice for the position. Firefighter Pettay is eager to serve and protect the residents in the community in which he calls home.
“Andrew brings a wealth of experience with him from his time in Sandusky. I was fortunate to have worked with him when I was a Lieutenant and have witnessed first-hand his career development. Andrew’s positive attitude and pride in what he does is truly reflected in his performance. He is a welcome addition to the Huron Fire Department,” stated Fire Chief Kevin McGraw.
Joining Shift 2 at Station 1 under Captain Kurt Schafer, Firefighter Pettay looks forward to interacting full-time with the Huron community and advancing with the department over time.
Firefighter Pettay’s commitment and dedication to helping others feel safe, supported, and valued extends well beyond the firehouse. Over the past five years he and his wife, Jillian, have demonstrated a remarkable blend of compassion, patience, resilience, and selflessness through fostering children.
Outside of work, Firefighter Pettay enjoys hunting, working around his house, and spending as much time possible with his family. “Fall down seven times, stand up eight”, are words Firefighter Pettay lives by.
Please join us in giving Firefighter Pettay a warm “full-time” welcome to Huron Fire!
