Did you know... Huron Fire is comprised of three (3) Captains who share the role of Chief, three (3) Lieutenants, and 30 full and part-time firefighters. The Huron Fire Department is staffed 24/7/365. The Full-Time staff is complimented with an experienced Part-Time staff that plays an integral role in daily and emergency operations.

Firefighters work 10 - 24 hour shifts each month in a rotating pattern called the California swing (24 on, 24 off, 24 on, 24 off, 24 on, 96 off). Shifts change at 7 AM.

Huron is one of a few lakefront communities to have a Dive Rescue and Recovery Team. This specialized team continues to enhance their skills and participates in multiple training dives a year including lake, pond, quarry, river and pool dives to highlight a few. The team currently is staffed by 10 FT/PT members.

In 2024 the Fire Department responded to 2,269 calls for assistance.
