PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
Jim Campbell Blvd. to Receive
High-Visibility Multi-Modal Crossing
SCOPE:
The City of Huron is pleased to announce that, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), a new high-visibility multi-modal crossing will be installed on Jim Campbell Boulevard near Huron High School, creating a safer connection between the school campus, the Lake Shore Electric Trail, and the footbridge over SR2.
Planned improvements include highly visible pavement markings, pedestrian-activated rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs), updated signage, accessible curb ramps, new overhead lighting, and sidewalk connections to make crossing the roadway easier and more noticeable for motorists.
This is an ODOT LPA project managed by the City of Huron.
TIMELINE:
Upon completion of the final design, the project will go out to bid with construction slated for early summer of 2027.
BUDGET:
The project total is estimated to cost $234,750. The City has been awarded $159,700 in grant money from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).
