Leaf Pick-Up Set to Begin - Monday, October 26, 2026

The City of Huron’s Leaf Pick-Up Program will return this year offering two (2) methods for leaf pick-up.

•Method 1 – BAGGED Curbside Leaf Pick-Up:

All city residents receiving services from Republic have access to unlimited weekly yard waste collection. This includes fall leaf pick-up. Residents may bag their leaves and place at the curb for weekly pick-up. The leaves may be placed in cans (marked “Yard Waste”) or in paper yard waste bags. Leaves do not need to be separated from other acceptable yard waste materials when bagged for curbside pick-up.

•Method 2 – AUTOMATED Curbside Leaf Pick-Up:

Residents are permitted to place leaf piles at the curb to be picked up by the City’s Street Department. The Automated Leaf Pick-Up Program will begin on Monday, October 26th. Leaf collection will take place on a rotating basis beginning on the east side of the City and working its way west. The intention is to make at least two trips through the city as weather permits. The final collection date will be Friday December 4th.

When utilizing Method 2, please adhere to the following guidelines:

•LEAF PILES MUST BE PLACED WITHIN 6 FT. OF THE CURB.

•Pick-up is for LEAVES ONLY (absolutely - no sticks or other yard waste materials are permitted).

•DO NOT PLACE LEAVES IN THE STREET or behind parked vehicles.

•Piles of leaves that fail to meet these guidelines will be painted with an X and WILL NOT be collected.
