Huron Parks & Recreation Welcomes Spring
From Pancakes to the Easter Bunny, Magic Shows to colorful eggs, the Huron Parks & Recreation team is ready to welcome Spring! Following the Pancake Breakfast & Egg Hunt on March 28th, a full line up of community events will kick off a recreational season of fun! Mark your calendars for Huron’s Youth Summer Camps & Program registration opening on Monday, April 6th at 8 AM, followed by the City-Wide Clean-Up on May 2nd in celebration of Earth Day, and the City-Wide Garage Sale on May 16th.
Pancake Breakfast & Egg Hunt – March 28, 2026
The Annual Lion’s Club Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026. The breakfast will take place from 8 AM to noon at the First Presbyterian Church in Huron with a special Michael Mage Magic Show at 10 AM. Breakfast is free and cash donations for the Lion’s Club will be accepted. Following the Pancake Breakfast join the Easter Bunny at the Huron Boat Basin at 1 PM for the Annual Egg Hunt. This event is open to children ages 2 to 8. Canned food donations will be accepted for the local food pantry.
Summer Youth Programs & Sports Camps Announced
Huron Parks & Recreation is pleased to bring back their Youth Summer Programs and Sports Camps with registrations opening on Monday, April 6th at 8 AM. Camps and programs fill up quickly so mark your calendars to register on April 6th! The department is offering a variety of different Sports Camps, Art Camps, and Summer FUN Camps, as well as Safety Town and an Extended Safety Town program open to children entering Kindergarten in the Fall.
Huron Parks & Recreation is offering three new camps this year - Softball Camp, Fishing Camp, and a Fall Golf Skills Academy.
- Softball Camp (ages 7-12) will take place June 15-18 from 9-11 AM at the Huron High School Varsity Softball Field at Woodlands School. Participants will practice improving player skills, such as fielding, batting and pitching. This camp is led by Huron High School Softball Coaches and players.
- Fishing Camp (ages 8-14) will take place June 30-July 1 from 8-11 AM at the new Dancing Waters Park on Berlin Road. Participants will learn the basic skills and techniques of fishing as well as the best times to fish. This camp is led by Old Lake Shore Charters, Charter Captain, Jerod Smith.
- Fall Golf Skills Academy (ages 10-17) will take place on Sundays, September 13, 20, and 27 with a rain date of October 4 at Sawmill Creek Golf Course. This Academy is open to young golfers with some previous golf experience. Participants may expect to work on putting, short game, proper technique and golf swing set-up, as well as learning drills to practice at home and can expect to play a few holes at Sawmill on the final Sunday.

These Programs and Camps are made possible by the help of Huron coaches and student athletes. The Safety Town Program, Extended Safety Town, and the Art Camps are under the instruction of a licensed teacher.
With temperatures on the rise and Spring in the air, it is the perfect time for a little spring cleaning! Huron Parks & Recreation have a couple of opportunities to Clean-Up and Clean Out!
City-Wide Clean-Up – Saturday, May 2, 2026
The City-Wide Clean-Up will return this year on Saturday May 2nd from 9 to 11 AM. Join the Huron Parks & Recreation team in an organized event to clean up our parks and public green spaces. The Clean-Up event will kick off at 9 AM at the Parks & Recreation Building, 110 Wall Street in Huron. All are welcome, clean-up supplies are provided by the Erie County Solid Waste Green Bean Trailer. Refreshments will be served. Join the team and feel good about making a difference in Huron!
City-Wide Garage Sale – Saturday, May 16, 2026
Are you looking to buy, sell or trade your treasures? The Huron Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to announce registration for the City-Wide Garage Sale is now open. The large garage sale event will take place on Saturday, May 16 from 8 AM to noon in the west parking lot of the Huron Boat Basin. All Garage Sale spots are $15 with a maximum of three spots per registration. (1 spot - $15, 2 spots - $30, and 3 spots - $40) Spaces are limited and treated on a first registered basis. Pre-registration is required. When registering please specify your preferred set-up time (6 AM or 7 AM). Space assignments will be mailed out prior to the sale. This event is held rain or shine with no refund.

Nickel Plate Beach Seasonal Passes – Now on Sale
Nickel Plate Beach Seasonal Parking Passes are now available online. Be beach ready, order your pass online today and it will be mailed to the address provided prior to opening season. The Nickel Plate Beach Parking Pass entitles the registered holder to park one licensed vehicle at Nickel Plate Beach during beach hours (dawn to dusk), for the 2026 Season, Memorial Day through Labor Day. A seasonal parking pass sells for $25 for residents and $40 for non-residents. Season passes may be purchased after Memorial Day at the Nickel Plate Beach gate along with daily passes for $7 a vehicle per day. New this year – Nickel Plate Beach passes (both seasonal and day passes) may be purchased with either cash or a credit card.
No Refunds if the beach is closed due to unforeseen events.
As a reminder, City Ordinance prohibits dogs on the beach or in the park from 10 AM until 6 PM Memorial Day through Labor Day. As always, there are no lifeguards on duty at Nickel Plate Beach. Please observe all safety tips printed on the back of your Nickel Plate Beach Parking Pass and those posted at the beach.
