Huron Welcomes Stuart Hamilton as New City Manager

The City of Huron officially welcomed its new City Manager, Mr. Stuart (Stu) Hamilton, during a brief swearing-in ceremony at City Hall during the Tuesday, October 14th City Council meeting. Surrounded by Council, staff, and community members, Hamilton took the oath of office administered by Law Director, Todd Schrader.
Hamilton was asked by Council to assume the role of Interim City Manager this past April Previously, to the Interim position Hamilton served as the Service Director for Huron since 2022. With more than 25 years of management experience and over 10 years of local government experience Huron City Council unanimously agreed Hamilton was the perfect for Huron.
Hamilton stated, he is “honored to have joined the Huron community as City Manager, Huron is a community that values collaboration, growth, and the importance of our waterfront. Huron has tremendous potential, and I look forward to working with residents, council, staff, and local businesses to continue moving Huron forward.” Hamilton’s first priorities include continuing work on downtown revitalization projects, supporting local businesses, and improving city infrastructure.
Mayor Monty Tapp welcomed Hamilton on behalf of City Council and expressed gratitude for his leadership during the Interim period. “Stu provided steady guidance these past several months, and we’re grateful for his service. We are confident Mr. Hamilton’s background, expertise and knowledge of the day-to-day operations make him a perfect fit as Huron’s City Manager. Hamilton’s leadership is well respected by both Council and staff members, and we look forward to his energy carrying Huron into its next chapter.”
Having been with the City since 2022 as the Service Director, Hamilton has the knowledge, experience and motivation to handle the inner workings of the capital projects currently underway, Huron’s financial position, the challenges of Huron’s aging infrastructure, and the need for stable and reliable utilities.
“Huron has so many good things going on right now. The strength and vision of Council, a dedicated staff and a supportive community made the City Manager position very intriguing and desirable. It is a privilege to have accepted this new role!”
Stuart resides in Berlin Heights, with his wife and his spare time is consumed with enjoying his family, playing with his dogs and getting his hands dirty in his garden.
