The trail, named for its historical significance, is 1.2 miles long. The land was part of the Lake Shore Electric Railway, which operated an interurban electric railway from Cleveland to Toledo until 1939.

The 8-foot wide concrete trail is designed to serve walkers, runners and bikers. It increases community connectivity by providing pedestrian travel from Woodlands School to Huron High School Stadium at the base of the Rt. 6 overhead foot bridge. It also enhances pedestrian access to the city as well as to Fabens Park (via the foot bridge) and the neighborhoods to the north. The new trail was funded by a partnership of the City of Huron and Huron Township, through the Huron Joint Recreational District.
